In the previous chapter, Wakita said he knew who stole the betting ticket. File 977 starts with his deduction show. Sleeping Kogoro also kicks in, and they eventually resolve the theft case.
The most curious line in this chapter is definitely what one of the suspects says. I pick that one in this post as a memo.

Wakita assumes that a guy who wanted to leave to watch a show is guilty. And it turns out that the show he wants to watch is Anime whose episode is significant on the day.

This line is very symbolic.
Because Wakita also makes his first appearance in Detective Conan by this series. (It is said that he was already made his appearance in a way to the public more than a decade ago.)
Other two RUM candidates—Hyoe Kuroda and Rumi Wakasa—also have the scenes like this. If the scenes truly suggest who they are, then Wakita should be RUM. I might need to admit that at this point... Anyway, we'll see the truth hopefully soon.

At the end of the series, Wakita becomes Kogoro's second apprentice. (The first one is Bourbon, Toru Amuro.) It's been already known that Bourbon is Conan's side, but who Wakita really is?
